Wildlife Explorers
This is a group run for 8 to 12 year olds in conjunction with the RSPB. The aim is to bring nature to life by having fun with lots of hands on activites.
Events take place in and around the Field Centre on the fourth Saturday of the month from 10.00 till 14.00 and cost just £2.50 each.
In order to take part children must be registered with SBBOT and younger children should be accompanied by an adult. Please e-mail sbbot@talk21.com to register your interest and request registration forms. Events will be limited to 20 children so please contact us as soon as possible.
Each meeting will follow a similar pattern. We will get to know the area by going to different places. If there is any ringing taking place we will watch some birds being ringed and look at how we identify them and find out how old they are. If there are some interesting moths caught the night before we will look at these. In addition each month will have a theme:

| February 27th | Winter birds, looking at thrushes, Starlings, finches and wildfowl |
| March 27th | The end of winter. Trees, plants, insects and animals are waking up |
| April 24th | Early signs of spring e.g. birds that have arrived for the summer |
| May 22nd | Nesting birds. Checking nest boxes and looking for chicks |
| June 26th | Orchids and other plants in the dunes and woodland |
| July 24th | Butterflies and bugs over grassland and water |
| August 28th | Beachcombing. Collecting and identifying shells etc |
| September 25th | Visible migration. Birds have started their migration |
| October 23rd | Late migration. Winter visitors have arrived. |
