When the opportunity arose to purchase Restharrow Dunes in the 1980s, SBBO opted to become a land owner and set about managing some of the best land in the area, for the benefit of the wildlife.
Since this time SBBOT (the Trust was a necessity in becoming a landowner) has added to its holdings and also manages areas such as Middle Field on behalf of the owner, plus acts in an advisory capacity (on the Committee responsible for Pfizer Monk's Wall Reserve and the Sandwich Town nature reserve at Gazen Salts).
The amount of man hours involved in meeting the demands of the Trust's Management Plan ensures that time for birding is at a premium!
