An area managed by SBBOT on behalf of the private landowners as a nature reserve; access to the general public is not allowed at present.
The original field is derived from old sand dunes and is now enclosed on three sides by the Sandwich Bay Estate. The main habitat is unimproved grassland, with some scrub, a small reedbed and a large artificial pond.
The management aim is to enhance the conservation value of the site through a mix of grazing and cutting/raking to increase the amount of dune flora present..
The field acts as a wildlife refuge and can attract migrants such as Ring Ouzel, and has seen scarcities such as Bluethroat.
