Captures continued to be low at the beginning of the month until the 20th when 25 new birds were ringed during a session. Notable species prior to this date included - Starling, Blackcap, Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat, Swallow (5th), Reed Warbler (11th) and Treecreeper (14th). A Cetti's Warbler kept spirits up on the 26th when only 6 birds were ringed.

Autumn arrived on the 28th! 44 Willow Warblers were ringed bringing much needed impetus to the ringing effort.

During the night of the 30th continuing into the wee hours of the next day, a band of ringers bravely fought the mosquitos to capture wading birds on Backsand Scrape. These sessions are held to coincide with high tide, as birds are pushed off the mud from the foreshore and fly into the scrape to feed on the mud. Due to previous rainfall, some of the water had to be pumped out to expose the mud, then birds have to find it before we attempt to ring them, so quite a bit of planning takes place beforehand. Efforts were rewarded generously as 25 Common Sandpipers, 1 Green Sandpiper, 3 Redshank, 1 Greenshank and rarely caught-2 adult Lapwing. In additional to these birds 2 Common Sandpipers were recaptured - originally ringed by us in 2005 and 2006.
