A record 181 Common Twayblades were found in the gullies on the 4th, along with an impressive array of 458 Green-winged Orchids on the golf course, close to the sea end of the public footpath, including several striking white-flowered specimens. At least 193 more Green-winged Orchids were in the Whitehouse paddock and the field nearby on the 5th, though a good deal less well developed than those on the golf course, where a different array of 149 were found, close to the border near Prince's. A few Man Orchids were in flower along the beach on the 23rd, by which time the Lizard Orchid spikes were beginning to develop into flower, in far better numbers than at this time last year, and 376 spikes were counted on the Estate on the 28th, compared to only 100 in 2007.
